Voices of Alumni

Ashellee Spears

I am currently in the Roberts Wesleyan Masters of Social Work Program with a concentration of Mental Health. My experience as an RWC Psych undergrad allowed me to experience the beautiful complexity of who we are on a much greater level. It is awing in a sense to observe what an individual is capable of either positive or negatively when it comes to the functions of the mind. The more in depth you learn about the cause and effects of the human psyche the more God's wondrous yet complex nature is slowly revealed.

Every single psychology class you take at Roberts can be implemented to your own life, I also strongly recommend all psychology students to take the opportunity of working with the BELL program. Through working with the BELL program, I have improved my skills of working with adolescents with cognitive disabilities. The new skills I have learned will help me in the future because I will be working at Strong in one of their psych units.

Being a psychology major at Roberts Wesleyan College has been a wonderful experience with extremely knowledgeable professors who work side by side with you to give you the best education possible. The professors and classes I was afforded the opportunity to take here, gave me hands on experience with things such as psychological tests and assessments that I other wise would not have gotten a chance to work with until graduate school. The wealth of knowledge from professors and the hands on experience I received ultimately led me to a career path in School Psychology.
