Rochester Business Journal Features Rich Greer, Sustainable Building Designs

Innovations Enhance Sustainable Building Designs

When it comes to building, Richard Greer thinks going green is the way to go. “I’m definitely a proponent of wisely using green and sustainable practices to achieve results,” says Greer, director of facilities at Roberts Wesleyan College.

Greer oversaw construction of the B. Thomas Golisano Library at the college, which was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2008.

“The $13 million building was the first Silver-certified building on any college campus in Upstate New York—and the first library in the state to achieve Silver certification. It is 35 percent more energy efficient than a typical building and will save the college money in terms of operational expenses”, Greer says.
