Gates-Chili Chamber Awards Roberts with Beautification Award

Roberts Wesleyan College has been honored with the Beautification Award from the Gates-Chili Chamber of Commerce. The award is given annually to an individual or organization for its commitment to new construction or restoration of existing facilities that enhance or beautify the Chili area. The college is recognized for its Crothers Science & Nursing Center, which serves the next generation of leaders in health, science and technology industries.

In September 2015, the Roberts Wesleyan College community opened the Crothers Science & Nursing Center, a 44,000-square-foot, two-story facility that houses first-rate educational facilities for its science and nursing education. Today, the building features state-of-the-art classrooms, advanced simulation laboratories and an experimental greenhouse. It’s complete with advanced instrumentation and scientific equipment, modern teaching laboratories, several specialized labs, and dedicated research space in biology, chemistry and forensic science that brings together students, faculty and staff.

The Crothers Science & Nursing Center was made possible in part through a significant naming gift from anonymous donors who chose to designate the building in honor of former president and first lady William C. and Rilla L. Crothers. SWBR Architects and LeChase Construction were responsible for the building design and construction.

Deana Porterfield, president of Roberts Wesleyan College, accepted the award on the college’s behalf at the chamber’s Community Awards Gala May 5 at the Diplomat Banquet Center.  View 13 WHAM-TV Bright Spot with Don Alhart, here.
