Biology, B.A., B.S.

B.A. in Biology

Minimum Total Hours: 124

Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 90

General Education Requirements: Per General Education list (see General Education Division). Exceptions: the lab science and mathematics proficiency requirements are met through the major.

Major Requirements: 44 hours, including coursework in biology, chemistry, computer science, and mathematics

  • 23 hours of required biology courses
  • 8 additional hours of biology
  • 8 hours of chemistry
  • One computer science course
  • A minimum of 3 hours of mathematics

NOTE: BCHE 1000-Basic Biochemistry (3) will be required before enrolling in the major courses listed above if it is determined that remediation is needed in biology or chemistry.

B.S. in Biology

Minimum Total Hours: 124

Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 60

General Education Requirements: Per General Education list (see General Education Division). Exceptions: the lab science and mathematics proficiency requirements are met through the major.

Major Requirements: 62 hours, including coursework in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, physics, and mathematics

  • 33 hours of biology courses with supporting labs
  • 16 hours of chemistry with supporting labs
  • 2-4 hour computer science course
  • 8 hours of physics
  • 3-4 hours of mathematics

NOTE: BCHE 1000-Basic Biochemistry (3) will be required before enrolling in the major courses listed above if it is determined that remediation is needed in biology or chemistry.
