Letter from the Editor – October 2022

Students of Roberts Wesleyan,

Change is here. I doubt that many of you would argue that your life is the same now that it has always been; whether in big or small ways, things around us are changing.

In recent weeks, our institution declared a change in name that will affect prestige, marketing, apparel, and everything in between. Even before this adjustment was announced, this year’s Beacon was already destined to change drastically as well. In the spring, a whole new editing staff team was hired: myself as editor-in-chief, Abe Selby as assistant editor, and Grace Putnam as layout editor.

Abe, Grace, and I want the Beacon to be a place of exposition of the creativity that our students don’t always have opportunities to publicly display. The best part is, our student body wants to see these changes too. Our conversations with you told us that you want the Beacon to be engaging and personal – so that’s what we are going to try to do.

Thank you for viewing this first issue and supporting the creativity of your friends and classmates. Let’s use this space to bring creativity and connection to our campus!

God bless,

Lydia
