Fashion at RWU

1 0

On any given day at Roberts, you’ll see a broad spectrum of outfits and styles in our student body. It spans from the classic hoodie and jeans combo to trendy fits. People may even be rocking PJs at 3 PM. Given this, we decided to take a look at what matters to students when shopping for their clothes. In the world of fast fashion, do students value sustainability? Are style and affordability paramount, or is quality what students look for?
Many of the students we asked prefer to shop online from brands that they know are high quality. Jalen House is one of those students, and he also says that he tries to find clothes with a low environmental Impact. Another popular response was getting clothes from Shein or Amazon, to try to stay budget conscious, while keeping up with this season’s trends. Some students, like freshman Kaitlyn Johns, love to thrift, a style of shopping that’s become more and more popular over the past few years. She said, “Thrifting is the best way for me to save money, it’s better for the environment, and there are a lot of cute clothes in thrift stores.” Lastly, most students said that they choose a combination of buying online, thrift stores, and stores like TJMaxx and Target. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters about your clothes is that you’re happy with them.
