Conformity Rooted in Christ’s Love by Abby Collins

Agape is the highest form of love, and it is this form of love that caused God to send his Son to redeem the world as we have read in John 3:16. Many of us (including myself) attempt to find this kind of love in the things of this world. It could be anything from a relationship, to an addiction, or even an apathetic heart. The things of this world that we search for the highest form of love in will never satisfy us. These things do not have the redemptive power that only Jesus has. For that reason we must shift our focus off of what is found in the world, and onto the person who created the world from the palm of His hand. In Romans 12:2 the apostle Paul tells us, “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing, and perfect will.” This section of scripture is entitled “ A Living Sacrifice,” which is what God is for us. If God’s agape love for us was a living sacrifice why should we be so bold to not live the same way God did for us. We should deeply desire to love God the same way he loved us; by giving up his Son. Instead, we are loving the things of this world with the love that we should be giving to God. Do not conform (or give love to) the things of this world, rather love God and watch His plan for you unfold. I challenge not only myself, but the person reading this to surrender our worldly loves and desires to the only person who can fulfill them.
