Most people on the Roberts Wesleyan University campus have heard of the legendary Jared Gibbons. A more involved person, Jared has a presence in many areas: he is known as an RA, the men’s soccer goalkeeper, an admissions intern, Ron Burgundy, DJ Gibbo, an exemplary Computer Science student, an SNL host, and Mr. Miner.
Jared’s favorite spot on campus has been the soccer field. He likes it for two reasons: firstly, he gets to do what he loves there through soccer and other events. Secondly, he likes it because it’s quiet and serene after everyone has gone, allowing him to relax and contemplate.
Jared said that as a close second, his next favorite spot on campus would be his bed.
However, Jared is isn’t being illuminated under the Student Spotlight for being known, involved, and interesting; rather, it’s for his being intentionally influential in positive ways at Roberts. In every one of his interactions with students at Roberts, he tries to express to them how valued they are and that it’s okay to make mistakes. He says that everyone is imperfect and that you can never pass a point where God stops loving you and washing you anew.
Jared upholds the values of Roberts through his humble spirit and genuine outlook, and we believe this should be shared!
