Halloween Ends: A Review

Halloween Ends: the most anticipated horror film of the year.  This is the final installment of the new sequels, preceded by Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills.  The film begins as a flashback with a new character.  Corey Cunningham is babysitting when the kid locks him in the attic.  He kicks open the door, but it is too late to save the kid, who was standing in the way of the door and is knocked down the stairs.  The parents return home soon after, and Corey is accused of manslaughter.

Four years have gone by since the events of Halloween Kills, and everything is seemingly going well.  Laurie is writing a memoir and Allyson falls in love with Corey, but she knows nothing of his past.  However, the people around Corey who bully him keep dying, and Laurie is suspicious.

It turns out that Michael Myers has been training Corey to kill, and Corey attempts to kill Laurie.

*spoilers ahead*

Corey fails in his mission to kill Laurie, and ultimately kills himself.  The townspeople and Laurie get their hands on an injured Michael, and they then use a machine to shred his body, hoping that this will finally be all over.

A lot of horror fans have expressed their dislike of the film, comparing it to the attempt to replace Jason in one of the Friday the 13th films.  While I partially agree with them (I wish Michael had a bigger part in this movie), I did like the movie.  I always get so happy when a character is fleshed out like Corey was.  I like his character, and have found a small online community of fans who also agree with me.  I would not be surprised if this sequel ended up being a cult classic in later years, like what happened with Halloween III.  I’d give this film three out of five knives, since Michael was barely in it at all.  If you are a horror fan, definitely check this one out.  Diehard Halloween fans may not like this one though, so be cautious.
