How Do I Survive Finals Week?
Love From, Your Upperclassmen
You have a pretty free schedule to make decisions about your studying time because all the little things disappear – classes, assignments… – which can make it a lot easier. Some of the most important things you can have with you are past exams and study guides. I make a compilation of all of those to have all my information in one place, and then from there I break it down into sections that are easier to remember, and I work on one section at a time. The learning center has also been a great resource for me!

The hardest part of finals week is the workload; it’s a lot of tests, projects, and papers all at once, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I try to take it day by day, one thing at a time. If I get overwhelmed, I keep reminding myself that I’ve gotten through difficult situations like this before to calm myself down and remember that it works out in the end. I keep a schedule and to-do list so that I can check things off one at a time and stay on track.

I always make sure that I’m prioritizing my physical and mental health in addition to getting tasks done. As a science major, I usually have a lot of big, heavy exams, so it’s important to give myself breaks from working and studying. I also make sure that I’m eating and sleeping well. Tackle chunks of material at a time! Stay organized and take it one step at a time. And don’t procrastinate with studying; study a little bit every day and plug away at it!
