A Prayer by Cecilia Guerra
oh Lord our God, unwearied is Your love for us
that You would send for us this holy unblemished sacrifice of the altar
to give His body on that altar as our saving food
and His blood to wash us clean of our sins
that He would come unto the world as a defenseless baby
and He would become like us in all things but sin
to die for us, so that we could say yes to His love
knowing full well the pain He would endure
just to be rejected.
there is no greater love than to lay one’s life down for a friend.
You laid down Your life for me
little, sinful, undeserving me.
i could never earn Your love
i could never deserve it
yet You offered Yourself on that cross
for me.
so that I could choose to let You love me
so that I could choose to let You forgive me
knowing all of the times I would reject that love and that mercy
and nail You to the cross with my sins
yet You let Your hands be pierced for love
constantly reaching out to me
and You love me anyway.
You call me time and time again
back to You.
You love me into letting my defenses down.
in Your love, You call me to more
and through Your love, I find new meaning
through the receiving of You I am made whole.
give me the grace to share this love
to reflect You to those around me
to forgive as You forgive
to lay down my life for love of You, my God.
and give me the grace to always know
how unwearied is Your love for us.
