On Hispanic Heritage Month

0 0

Hispanic Heritage Month is a 31-day celebration starting on September 15th and ending on October 15th. Starting in 1968, it was initially called Hispanic Heritage Week, but it was expanded to a month to give more time to recognize and appreciate the different cultures of Hispanic and Latinx individuals in the United States.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated all across the United States in many different ways: concerts, festivals, history lessons, and art exhibitions are a few events that expose people to Hispanic Culture during this month. On the Roberts campus, we also try to highlight the diversity of our students, including the recognition and celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. One example is the visit to the Memorial Art Gallery (MAG), where a showcase of Latinx and Hispanic artists takes place. Hispanic Heritage Month is a fantastic time to expand your horizons and seek to experience cultures that may be very different from yours. Try some new foods, listen to folk music from Latin America, look into the art of Picasso and the architecture of Gaudi, and maybe even learn a new dance! Hispanic Heritage Month is a time for everyone to learn about new cultures and potentially find something new that they love, so give it a try!
