Roberts Chapel Memes: A Review

0 0

The start of the Fall 2022 semester brought a lot of changes: a newly designed Garlock, A/C in Miner, and the transition from RWC to RWU, to name a few.  It also brought @alternativerobertsmemes, Roberts’ heralded meme page, back to life.

After a dry spell starting in April, Roberts Alternative Memes suddenly revived in late August, its comeback marked by a meme detailing an elusive and highly contested occurrence of a year prior.  This was followed by a carousel of chapel memes that Wednesday, including some about President Porterfield being crowned Ms. Watsonville at age 6.  And then they just kept coming.

I’m sure I resonate with a lot of people in saying that this semester has been stressful.  From Kickstarts being reduced in chapel credit value to numerous housing changes, a lot has changed from previous semesters.  Freshmen are adjusting to a new environment; upperclassmen are adjusting to their classes getting more difficult from the year before; seniors are juggling internships and classes, while trying to take in as many experiences as they can in their last year of college.

But despite all of this, Roberts Alternative Memes has provided a small sliver of light: something to laugh at when we feel like crying, as I’m sure many of us have this semester.  Sophomore Carter Puylara said it best: “The amount of serotonin I get when a chapel meme is shown is unquantifiable.”

So keep the chapel memes coming, Roberts Alternative Memes admins.  It’s a source of light in a darkening world, and something awesome to look forward to every Wednesday.
