Student Reflections on the New Semester

The Fall 2022 Semester has brought about quite a few new things for Roberts. From renovations to a campus-wide name change, there’s a lot going on. With the start of a new semester, there are always things to look forward to and memories to reminisce on. I captured some of these memories from a few Roberts students.

Hunter Rowley, Freshman

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

My favorite part of summer would have to be just hanging out and having fun with my family.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

I’m looking forward to meeting new people and learning more about my major.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss living at home with my parents, but I’m excited to start living on my own at college

Libby Voisey, Freshman

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

My favorite part of this past summer was going to Jamaica on a mission trip with my family.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and doing fun campus activities.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss being home with my family and playing soccer with my high school team.

Jared Cicero, Sophomore

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

My favorite part was going to the Adirondacks.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

I’m mostly looking forward to my first semester living on campus and meeting lots of new people.

What do you miss about last year?

Not much other than playing basketball.

Jen Reagan, Sophomore

What was your favorite part of the summer?

My favorite part of the summer was going on vacation to Old Orchard Beach in Maine with my family.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

I’m looking forward to learning different software in my design class, making connections between classes that relate to each other, and racing with the cross-country team again.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss the seniors from the team that graduated because I became close friends with a number of them.

Mikhail Sokoloff, Junior

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

Hanging out with friends and playing a high level of soccer.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

Building more connections with new people on campus and strengthening the ones I already have.

What do you miss about last year?

Living with my suitemates that I had had since my freshman year – go Miner 204!

Amethyst Scherer, Junior

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

My favorite part of summer was being able to see my friends and making music. The highlight of my summer was auditioning for American Idol.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

I’m looking forward to making new memories and seeing my growth as a person. And lastly performing, to share my love for music with others.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss being on South Campus: being closer to all the activities and the music building.

Andrew Putnam, Senior

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

Working at Summer’s Best Two Weeks Camp and sharing the gospel and building relationships there.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

Ending my last semester at Roberts with a bang as well as enjoying soccer and student teaching.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss the free time I had that’s now taken up by my two biggest responsibilities, soccer and student teaching.

Heidi Bertram, Senior

What was your favorite part of this past summer?

Going to Boston with my family.

What are you looking forward to this semester?

Being with my friends and doing my psychology internship.

What do you miss about last year?

I miss some of the classes I don’t have anymore and some of the friends I don’t really cross paths with much because of our different schedules.
