0 0

At the Mid-Major Invitational at Youngstown State in late January, senior Ryan Karker and junior Hailee Lowe both set new RWU track and field program records. Ryan broke the record in the 500m run with a time of 1:05.33. Hailee broke the record in the pentathlon with a score of 3,172 points and set a new record for the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06 seconds.

Ryan Karker is a senior business administration major from Greece, NY. Ryan is involved with FCA on campus and interned for them this summer. He encourages student-athletes to “come to our Bible studies on Thursdays!” He is a member of the cross country and track teams, but aside from running, he also enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors. Ryan’s faith has been an integral part of his growth as a person and as an athlete. After breaking the 500m school record, Ryan expressed that all glory goes to God.

Hailee Lowe is a junior exercise science major from Alexander, NY. Already a competitive multi-event member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams specializing in the hurdle races and jumping events, Hailee joined the women’s swim team in the fall to supplement her workout routine and better prepare for longer distance races. Her teammates describe her as dedicated and hardworking. She credits her success to support from friends on the team, while teammates credit her success to her willingness to work to the best of her ability, no matter the circumstances. On top of such great athletic success, Hailee has maintained an impressive GPA and was recently named Roberts Wesleyan University’s Female Scholar-Athlete for January.

We highlight Ryan and Hailee for their success on the track and their contributions to their sport as teammates. Thank you, Ryan and Hailee, for being lights at Roberts, and congratulations on your recent accomplishments!
