A graduate of Cornell University and broadcast journalist for 18 years at Rochester-based stations 13 WHAM-TV and WROC-TV, Rachel has operated as an investigative journalist and the co-founder of Rochester Media Association in 2011 to support and strengthen the local press. She created and maintains an active blog, The Rochesterian, focusing on local news and issues. Rachel has run for political office three times, the latest of which was to succeed Louise Slaughter for the 25thcongressional district, in which she received the second most votes in the Democratic primary election. Her book, Broad, Casted: Gender, Media, Politics, and Taking on the Establishment is born out of one of her election experiences.

Guest Artist Recital: Tobias Greenhalgh, baritone

Rochester-native Tobias Greenhalgh, baritone and Joel Harder, piano will perform Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Shewan Recital Hall.

Tobias learned and first performed the song cycle in Vienna. He writes, “Winterreise is a very special piece of music for the Viennese, and performing it there was a big deal for me. To able to bring the piece back to Rochester means something special.” Come enjoy this intimate performance of Schubert's beloved work, mingled with Rochesterian roots and Vienna's touch.
