2016-17 Undergraduate Academic Catalog | Admissions

Freshman Admission

In assessing a freshman applicant’s suitability for admission, the Office of Admissions expects the following:

  1. Graduation from an approved high school.

    Recommended High School Curriculum:
    English: 4 years
    Foreign Language: 3 years*
History or Social Sciences: 3 years
    Mathematics: 3 years**
    Science: 3 years**

    * With few exceptions, students presenting three units of high school credit in the same foreign language with a grade of C or better are not required to pursue further foreign language study at Roberts Wesleyan. (For more details on language requirements see Foreign Language Proficiency.)
  2. Satisfactory scores on the SAT or ACT.
  3. A completed online application which includes a personal statement or essay.

If it is determined that an incoming student would benefit from academic support and guidance, he or she will be limited to 12-14 semester hours (full-time status) and may be required to meet with Learning Center personnel during his or her first semester. Such students will be reviewed by the Academic Guidance and Support Committee following the completion of the first semester to determine the necessary level of support needed for the next semester.

An opportunity for additional testing and campus interview may be required prior to an admission decision. If a student has had a felony in the past five years, they will not be granted admission. Any student that has a criminal record from over five years ago, will be asked to provide backgound on the online application and may be asked to meet with the Admissions office to discuss the instance further.

Roberts Wesleyan has a rolling admissions policy. Completed applications are reviewed regularly throughout the year. A completed application file must include the application for admission, transcripts of high school and college work completed or in progress, and results of the SAT or ACT (freshmen only). Students are encouraged to apply online. Students are informed of the Office of Admissions’ decision usually within two weeks after the application file is complete.
