Homeland Security Updates

HSI Internships are growing!

7 Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence major students took the NY State Level 1 Crime Analyst certification exam this past May.

Several Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence Students applied for the  ATAP Dr. Chris Hatcher Memorial Scholarship.   This is awarded each year to a student or students in the upper level undergraduate (Junior or Senior) or graduate level program. Dr. Hatcher’s work in threat assessment and work place violence recognizes the importance of social science and criminal justice research and its application to a developing field.  The purpose of the award is to spur interest at the student level in topics related to threat assessment, stalking and violence in the workplace. The award includes travel (International student applicants are welcome. The maximum travel cost is limited.) to the August ATAP conference, registration fees ($500 -$700), three nights at the Disneyland hotel at the conference, and a $2000 monetary reward. This conference offers a unique opportunity for students to not only learn the state of the art technologies but also to meet with experts in the field.

HSI is adding a business emphasis to the degree: Business courses were selected to provide students with necessary competencies to work in multiple corporate sectors.
