Admissions Requirements

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree with a nursing major from an accredited program*
  • Unencumbered licensure to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00
  • Successful completion (B minus or higher) of a statistics course
  • Two years of nursing experience. For RNs with less than two years of RN experience, the Graduate Curriculum Committee may consider other significant experience in health care including working as an LPN.

Students will be asked to review and sign the technical standards published on the School of Nursing Website at Roberts Wesleyan University

Not required:

  • Entrance Exam (GRE/GMAT)

The baccalaureate degree programs in nursing, master’s degree programs in nursing, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Roberts Wesleyan University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

Once you graduate, you will qualify to apply for state licensure as a Family Nurse practitioner and be eligible to take a Family Nurse Practitioner national certification exam through the AANP or ANCC.

Financial Aid is available mainly in the form of Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loans and Federal Graduate PLUS loans.

  • Direct Loans - To determine eligibility, complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.studentaid.gov. Available October 1st for the following academic year. The Federal school code for Roberts is 002805.
    • Direct Unsubsidized - Fixed rate loan with an annual maximum of $20,500. Rate and fees are determined annually. For more information, go to www.studentaid.gov.
    • GRAD PLUS - Fixed-rate credit qualifying loans which allow for additional funds to help pay for educational expenses, up to the Cost of Education, as established by Roberts Wesleyan University. The PLUS request process, including a credit check, can be completed at www.studentaid.gov.

With the exception of one 1-week class and clinical requirements, courses are online. 

Some of your courses will require up to 150 clinical hours to complete. Upon completion, you'll have gained a wealth of hands-on experience through at least 600 clinical hours within the program.
