Roberts and Reliant Community Credit Union Celebrate 10-Year Partnership and Recognize Students

This month marks Roberts Wesleyan College and Reliant Community Credit Union’s 10-year anniversary of partnering to present financial awards to business students. Reliant Federal Credit Union representatives, senior business students, and Roberts faculty and staff gathered for the annual awards ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the program’s success.

“It’s wonderful to have a partnership that has such a direct positive impact on our students and I am very proud of our efforts,” said Steve Bovee, dean of the school of business. “We began our partnership with Reliant in 2008 to benefit our students and motivate them to earn this mission-oriented award.” Over the past decade, Reliant has provided $15,000 in awards to more than 40 students.

The awards are presented to students who demonstrate the characteristics of the business department’s transformational model, including hope and courage, integrity, personal excellence and servant leadership. Reliant has earned the distinction of making a difference for Roberts business students over the years. Students benefit from the support of this local organization, as well as faculty and staff supporting them in leadership development.

“We are pleased to partner with Roberts Wesleyan College to sponsor the business essay scholarship contest. It’s an honor for Reliant Community Credit Union to be part of this student experience and to recognize the outstanding business leaders of the future. The core values that are taught at Roberts align closely with Reliant’s culture, making this a great partnership,” said Dawn Edwards, chief operating officer.

Reliant has also partnered with undergraduate business students through their participation in mock interviews and guest lectures, and as clients for classroom marketing projects.
