Student Spotlight: Mike Proulx– Sophomore ‘20

What do you like the most about studying accounting?

I like working with the professors and faculty in the accounting program. They make me feel like they really care about my future and my time here at Roberts.

What is your Dream Job? How is Roberts helping achieve this?

My dream job is to become a financial advisor – I have a passion for financial planning and wealth management and I like to be in the know of “What’s new in the industry?” Roberts is helping me to achieve this through a quality education and providing various educational opportunities to me. Through these experiences, Roberts is helping me learn the specific information in my major that I will need to achieve this dream job.

What has been your favorite course here at Roberts?

Organizational Behavior with Professor Carrie Starr! I really like this course because it can be applied not only in a future job, but also to life in general. I have enjoyed working, and learning, in teams which has improved my collaboration with people overall.

What is your favorite food from Garlock?

Chicken fingers, for sure!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

The turf fields playing intramurals because it is a great place to get friends together and toss a Frisbee or baseball. I also like to play basketball and volleyball.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Be prepared and organize your time. As a student, it is important to learn how to schedule your time and class priorities wisely. Procrastinate as little as possible. And of course, have fun in your four years as a Redhawk!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to listen to music and hang out with friends. Right now my favorite song is “Cry For You” by Lecrae, who is a Christian artist.

What is it like being a part of Enactus?

It is really cool to see how the community can be impacted for the better through the various activities that Enactus holds. At Roberts, people are passionate about making a change for the better not only for themselves, but for others.
