According to a Forbes article, the Rochester native is “a remarkable woman- a wife, a mother to two sons, ages 15 and 20; resourceful, smart, passionate, and fiercely determined. She is entirely self-made, having been raised by her single mother and grandparents after her parents divorced. Her interest in the markets and all things financial came from her grandfather who she recalls lovingly as her role model. ‘From the time I was a little girl he would throw me an annual report and ask me what I thought. I had no idea what I was reading at the time but I knew I wanted to learn because I wanted to be like him.’  Almost 25 years of fearlessness, determination, passion, grit and a fabulous staff and support system have led her to become one of the top women in the field.”

Additionally, she is included in a story on top wealth advisors in the October 24, 2017 issue of Forbes.

Van Dusen started her career in the investment industry in 1987. Within 15 years, she earned the position of managing director with Citigroup/Smith Barney Institutional Consulting, prior to serving on the Executive and Investment Committees at Convergent Wealth Advisors Institutional Group, where she advised $8 billion in assets for clients. Most recently, she went solo and founded LVW Advisors, a local registered investment adviser, where she became an independent model in the financial services industry.

She earned a Masters of Education from Harvard University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College. She holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation, administered by Investment Management Consultants Association, and taught in conjunction with The Wharton School.

Van Dusen serves on various boards, including University of Rochester’s Medical Center Board, Monroe Community College Foundation, Memorial Art Gallery and The NYS Trooper P.B.A. — Signal 30 Board. In addition, she is on the advisory boards for the Institutional Investor’s RIA Institute, United Way, American Heart Association, F.F. Thompson Health System and Institutional Investors RIA Forum. She supports private and public education through her many years in leadership roles to include “Star Power,” a scholarship program through MCC that helps single parents continue their studies, as well as her philanthropic support of the PUC Charter School.
