Roberts and Northeastern Host "The Call & Response Conference" in October

Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary will host The Call and Response Conference Oct. 4-6 on campus. The intergenerational conference is open to church leaders, as well as Christians in the marketplace, nonprofit leaders, pastors, practitioners, artists and activists. 

The conference will feature nationally known speakers and leaders, including:

  • Sho Baraka, artist and cofounder of AND Campaign
  • Bishop Claude Alexander, senior pastor at The Park Church
  • Santes Beatty, director of Multiethnic Ministries for The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters
  • Fred Johnson, head pastor at First Genesis Baptist Church
  • Christena Cleveland, Ph.D., author and associate professor at Duke University’s Divinity School
  • Marvin McMickle, Ph.D., president of Colgate Rochester Divinity School
  • Amena Brown Owen, author and poet, named one of Rejuvenate magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 Changemakers
  • Lisa Fields, founder and president of the Jude 3 Project
  • And several other sought-after speakers

“This event is an opportunity to learn from black Christians in America,” said Esau McCaulley, Ph.D., assistant professor at Northeastern Seminary. “It was originally inspired by black preaching tradition when the pastor and congregation joined together. It is an honor to be speaking alongside this esteemed group of leaders who add purpose and value to transforming lives and God-honoring diversity conversations.”

Event organizers include Natasha Sistrunk Robinson, author and founder of Leadership LINKS Inc.; Santes Beatty, director of Multiethnic Ministries for The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters; and Esau McCaulley, Ph.D., professor at Northeastern Seminary. The event is emceed by Brandon Harris, pastor at Georgetown University, and Ekemini Uwan, writer and co-host of the Truth’s Table podcast.
