50 Years Later, Basketball Relic Returns to Campus
In a legendary 1967 basketball game, Roberts Wesleyan defeated Buffalo State 91-81 in an electrifying match. Senior players Frank Carter, Bill Bachmann, and Keith Moore scored an impressive 71 points, thrilling a packed crowd of over 1,000 at Churchville-Chili High School.
The game's memorable moment? A broken bleacher board that has become a cherished piece of athletic history, preserved for over 50 years as a tangible reminder of that remarkable victory.
"This is an actual piece of history," said Executive Director of Athletics, Bob Segave. "You can feel close to something even though you weren't there, but when you can touch something that was there and preserved for more than 50 years, that is really special. I think that this is a great thing for the Athletic Department to have and the University to have."
