Below, you’ll find all the information you need to apply as an international student, whether you're pursuing an undergraduate or graduate program.

The University considers international students to be any student who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

International Student Eligibility

If you're planning to study in the U.S. at Roberts, you’ll need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

A student at Roberts Wesleyan

Earning An Undergraduate or Graduate Degree

You must be seeking to earn a bachelor's or master's degree at Roberts.

Learning In-Person

You’ll need to attend classes on-campus and live on-campus.

F-1 Student Visa

A valid visa is required for all international students (except Canadian students)

Visas and I-20

To study in the U.S., you'll need an F-1 student visa. 

Before applying for your visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, you must obtain an I-20 form from Roberts.

  • I-20 Form: This form certifies your admission to Roberts and confirms you have sufficient financial resources to cover your education and living expenses in the U.S.
  • Canadian Citizens: You don’t need to go to the U.S. Embassy, but you still need an I-20 form.

Please note that certain programs at Roberts do not qualify for an F-1 visa, including:

  • Nursing Home Administration
  • Family Nurse Practitioner (post-master’s certification)
  • Nursing Education (post-master’s certification)
  • Nursing Leadership and Administration (post-master’s certification)
  • Pathways and ESOL programs (non-degree programs)

Admissions Requirements

The application process for international students follows these steps:

  1. Submit Your Application: Use the free Roberts Wesleyan Application for full-time bachelor’s degree study.
  2. Official Transcripts: Provide official high school or college transcripts from all schools attended.
  3. Proof of English Proficiency: If you are not from an English-speaking country, you will  need to submit one of the following scores as proof of English language proficiency:
    • TOEFL: Minimum score of 540 (paper-based), 215 (computer-based), or 75 (internet-based).
    • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0.
    • SAT: Minimum score of 450 on the Critical Reading Section.
    • ACT: Minimum score of 18 on the English Section.
  4. Recommendations: If required, when applying to Roberts, provide recommendations from individuals who can write in English.
  5. Copy of Passport: Submit a color copy of your passport's information page as well a copy of the back that shows the matching ID numbers.
  6. Financial Documentation: Complete the International Student Financial Statement (ISFS) which includes:
    • Official bank letters
    • Account statements and/or financial aid award letters that demonstrate you have funds to cover the first year of expenses for your program.
    • More details about this required documentation are included in the ISFS. 
  7. F-1 SEVIS Transfer Form (if transferring from another U.S. institution).

Additional Documentation for Graduate Students

For graduate programs, you may need to submit extra materials, such as your Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, if applicable, and other program-specific documents.

Please check with the Admissions Office for specific requirements.

Application Deadlines

To ensure you have enough time for visa processing, we recommend you submit your application six months prior to the start of your term.

Here are the priority deadlines for Undergraduate students:

  • Fall Semester: July 1 (Semester starts in August)
  • Spring Semester: November 1 (Semester starts in January)

For Graduate programs, please visit your program page to determine start dates.

Financial Aid

The same tuition rate applies to both domestic and international students, but financial aid through scholarships or grants is not guaranteed for international students.

We encourage you to explore external scholarships, private loans, and sponsorships from private or government sources.

Steps After Acceptance

Once accepted, please complete the following:

Enrollment Deposit

First, you'll submit the Admissions Deposit form.

Then, you'll pay $2,000 via credit card or Flywire (enter Roberts Wesleyan University) at least two months before the start of an academic term OR show Visa Appointment confirmation.

Submit Health Documents

Complete the Health History Form and provide proof of immunizations.

Complete the International Student Financial Statement

Complete the ISFS and attach an official bank statement (dated within 120 days) showing funds to cover your first year of expenses.

Obtain Your I-20

After depositing and getting your ISFS form approved, you’ll receive your I-20 form, used to apply for your F-1 visa.
