CMC 500NE (Core course)
Orientation to Theological Studies

The purpose of this course is to orient new students to the disciplines of biblical, theological, historical, and ministerial studies at Northeastern Seminary. Attention will be given to the Seminary’s expectations for academic research and writing. All BHT 511NE students are required to enroll and participate in this course. Students must receive a passing grade in CMC 500NE in order to earn a degree from NES. This course is open to all students.

Practicum in Theological Writing

This course provides additional assistance in the skills of academic research, writing, and critical thinking. These skills are practiced in tandem with course materials for BHT 512NE (or another writing-intensive seminary course) so that assignments for this course will contribute to the completion of assignments for BHT 512NE (or another credit-bearing course). Upon evaluation of student progress at the conclusion of CMC 500NE, some students may be required to enroll in CMC 501NE as a condition of their continued enrollment at NES; for specific policy see “The Core Curriculum” section of this catalog.
