Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society

The goal of the Honor Society is to become a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Membership in the Honor Society is by invitation and is extended to students who have completed half of their nursing credits, have maintained a 3.00 grade point average or higher, and are in the top 35% of their graduating class. The Honor Society’s functions are to recognize excellence and leadership among members of the nursing profession and to promote scholarship and research within the profession of nursing.

Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society
RWC Chapter: Tau Lambda

Alpha Sigma Lambda is a National Honor Society that recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work.

To be inducted into Roberts Wesleyan’s Tau Lambda Chapter, students must be recommended by the Department and approved by the Chapter’s Board.  To be eligible, students need to have earned at least 24 credits from Roberts Wesleyan College and have a minimum GPA of 3.75.

Phi Alpha National Honor Society
RWC Chapter: Mu Omega

The purpose of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among graduate and undergraduate social work students as they promote social justice by meeting humanitarian goals and ideals through volunteerism. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership students who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work and in humanitarian volunteerism.

To be inducted into Roberts Wesleyan’s Mu Omega Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society, students must meet a number of requirements. Graduate students must have completed at least 15 credit hours of course work at Roberts Wesleyan College and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher.  In addition, all students must have participated in humanitarian volunteerism for a minimum of 20 hours (during the 12 months since the time of application) that focus on the promotion of social justice and humanitarian goals.

Students whose completed credit hours and cumulative GPA meet the requirements will receive an invitation letter in the spring semester to make application for Phi Alpha membership. Students will then be asked to submit an essay of 500 words or less describing their humanitarian volunteerism experiences during the past year.  All applications will be reviewed by the Phi Alpha Membership Committee, and applicants will be notified as to the results of this review.
