Rev. Francisco L. Burgos

Frank Burgos is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College with a B.S. in Organizational Management, 2001. He went on to earn an M.A. in Theological Studies from Northeastern Seminary, 2003. Rev. Burgos participated in the development of the certificate program at Northeastern Seminary and served as the director for many years. He has taught pastoral ethics and pastoral/spiritual formation since the program’s inception. He was licensed and commissioned in 2009 by Spencerport Assembly of God Church. He has worked with Hispanic Churches in the development of their leadership and overall ministry. He recently began a new church plant in Spencerport January 2014 called Horizon Church.

Rev. Louis E. Colon

Louis E. Colon has an M.A. in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and earned an M.A. in Theological Studies from Northeastern Seminary, 2005. Most recently he earned a Doctor of Ministry from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, 2013. Rev. Colon participated in the development of the certificate program at Northeastern Seminary and has taught New Testament and Old Testament survey, homiletics, and leadership, all of which will now be offered in English and Spanish. He is a GED teacher for the Rochester City School District and assists in the preaching ministry at Edgewood Free Methodist Church, Rochester, N.Y.

 

Mr. Mateo Hess

Mateo Hess grew up in Colombia and Ecuador, South America. He graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education/Spanish from Houghton College, 1987, then went on to earn an M.A. in Bilingual Education from SUNY Buffalo, 1993. He received a Certificate in Nonprofit Management, 2001, as well as an M.A. in Public Administration from SUNY Brockport, 2003. Mr. Hess has been teaching in the Rochester City School District for 26 years. For 24 years he has helped lead and organize the Youth Association, a coalition of church youth groups: cross racial, denominational and demographic with local events and mission trips to Colombia and Ecuador. His missionary role as associate staff with One Mission Society allows for this global connection. His wife, Leticia, and two children consider the Primera Iglesia Hispana (First Spanish Christian Church) their home church where Mateo has served by teaching Sunday school, preaching, chairing the elder board, and leading through other committee work.


Rev. Peter J. Mills

Pete Mills is a graduate of Campbell University, North Carolina with a B.S. in Sociology.  He went on to earn an M.A. in Educational Ministries from Wheaton Graduate School in 1986.  He initially served 5 years in student development at the college level, then has been in pastoral ministry ever since.  Currently he is the pastor of Crossroads Community Church, a Free Methodist congregation in Webster, NY.  Pete was part of Northeastern Seminary since its inception, initially serving as one of the first two Faith Sharing Group facilitators at NES.  He has also served NES twice in the past as a Field Ed supervisor in the area of small group ministries.  In recent years, Pete has continued to serve on the Personal Spiritual Formation Committee, a group that oversees and evaluates the integration of spiritual formation in all aspects of the seminary community.  Pete is also a graduate of NES, having earned an M.A. in Theological Studies in 2007.  Pete has been on three short-term mission trips, most recently teaching at the Masters level in the inaugural M.A. program at Haiti Providence University, Balan, Haiti.

Kathleen Phillips

Kathy Phillips attended Brockport State University for undergraduate and graduate studies earning a B.S. in Health Science and Young Childhood Education, M.S. in Elementary Education, and an Educational Administration Certificate of Advanced Study and School Administrator Supervisor Certification. She is a 2016 graduate with Christian Ministry Certification from NES. Kathy began her teaching career as a preschool teacher in San Vito, Italy. She substitute taught in the Rochester CSD and several suburban schools before becoming teacher and later Instructional Specialist at Brockport CSD. She then became Elementary Principal at Caledonia Mumford CSD. Kathy moved on to Special Education Program Supervisor/Principal with Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES and at the Career and Tech Center, WE-MO-CO HS, also at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. Over the span of her career, Kathy has served on countless educational committees supporting and advocating for students and families. Kathy and her husband are active members at Hope Church in Greece. She is Volunteer Coordinator, works with work study students, supports new membership classes and meets with members to discuss their spiritual gifts then matches their passions and interests with service areas. She has been an active participant in several other church missions as well. She assumed the role of Director of Certificate Programs at Northeastern Seminary in 2017.
