Requirements for Master's Degrees
Academic Requirements
To qualify for a master’s degree conferred by Roberts Wesleyan College, the candidate must present the following:
- The minimum credit hours required of the program (see individual departments for requirements).
- The minimum cumulative grade point average required of the program (see individual departments for requirements).
- Full acceptance to the major by the faculty of the academic department in which the major is taken.
- Submission of the completed Application for Degree to the Office of Registration. Application must be submitted by October 1 for December Commencement and by February 1 for the May Commencement.
It is the policy of Roberts Wesleyan College to grant only one Master's degree within the same discipline.
Upon completion of a master's degree, students are allowed to apply for matriculation in a different master's degree program. Up to 12 credits from the first graduate degree may be used toward the second degree, at the discretion of the department granting the second degree.
Commencement Participation
To participate in the May Commencement ceremony, a student must have the minimum cumulative grade point average required by his/her degree program by March 1 of the Commencement year. Students must have completed all the modules in their program (for modular graduate programs) by the spring conferral date. If the graduate program is not a modular program, a student must be within 6 semester hours of full degree completion by March 1 and there must be reasonable plans for completing those hours by the end of the summer. To participate in the December Commencement ceremony, a student must have at least the minimum cumulative grade point average required by his/her degree program by October 1 of the Commencement year. Students must have completed all degree requirements by the conferral date in order to participate in the December commencement.
Students have only one opportunity to participate in Commencement ceremonies. If a student is eligible to participate in a given Commencement, they must participate in that Commencement.
Diplomas are not issued until all academic requirements and financial obligations have been fulfilled. Once a degree has been conferred, the academic transcript and GPA are frozen. Subsequent course work and grades will be applied to a new transcript.
