Dropping Classes
Class Withdrawal Policy
DESIRED OUTCOME | ACTION DEADLINE |
To not have the course even appear on the transcript | File change of registration form before the end of the second week of a 15-week class or before the end of day 2 for a 5- or 10-week class. |
To receive a “W” on the transcript and therefore not have the grade calculated into the GPA | File change of registration form during weeks three to twelve for a full-semester course, or before the last three days of a 5- or 10-week course. |
Failure to file a change of registration form altogether or filing after the above deadlines will result in the course and the earned grade—including an F if applicable—remaining on the transcript and being calculated into the GPA.
IMPORTANT: The date the form is received by the coordinator of academic planning is the official date of change. The date the form is filed not only affects the transcript grade, but also determines the amount of tuition refund (if any), and the financial aid adjustment (see the Tuition and NES Aid Reversal Schedule section of this catalog).
Students who must withdraw from Northeastern Seminary altogether are responsible to file a withdrawal form promptly with the coordinator of academic planning. Delay or failure in filing the withdrawal form causes the student to be liable for the full semester’s tuition, and can result in a grade of F permanently appearing on the student’s academic transcript. When considering withdrawal from a course or from seminary altogether, it is always advisable to speak with the professor(s) first to determine whether the course(s) can be salvaged. This is the most cost-effective and time-effective approach, rather than dropping and repeating courses. |
