Education Minor
The Education Minor requires students to complete 18 hours as specified below.
Introduction to Education (6 hours)
- TEDU 1850 Education in a Changing World
- TEDU 1950 Foundations of Special Education*
Child/Adolescent Development (3 hours)
- PSYC 2030 Child and Adolescent Development OR
- TEDU 2600 Learning and Development in Early Adolescence
Teaching and Learning (6 hours)
- TEDU 2350 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment I (pre or co-requisites: TEDU 1850, 1950)
- TEDU 3600 Creating Inclusive Learning Communities* (prerequisite: TEDU 2350)
Electives (at least 3 additional hours selected from the following list)
- TEDU 2550 Foundations of Language & Literacy (pre or co-requisite: TEDU 2350)
- TEDU 2940 Integrated Literacy Practices Across the Curriculum (prerequisites: TEDU 1850, 1950)
- TEDU 3350 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment II (prerequisite: TEDU 2350)
- TEDU 3650 Assessment for Special Education (prerequisites: TEDU 1950, 2350)
- TEDU 3900 Collaboration for Learning (prerequisite: TEDU 1950, 2350, 3650)
- COMM 3060 Communication in the Classroom
Additional TEDU and PEDU courses taken by students previously majoring in Education may be used as elective courses in the minor with approval from the department.
