The Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence major is designed to create culturally literate, highly ethical, skilled graduates for placement in law enforcement, national security, intelligence analysis and design, private security, and multi-national corporations.

The Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence major was designed by recognized law enforcement and national security experts to educate students on the dense nature and complexities of the current state of U.S. and world security. Graduates with a degree in Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence from Roberts Wesleyan University will also have attained the skills necessary to analyze and refine data into actionable intelligence for various consumers.

SPECIFICS OF THE HOMELAND SECURITY AND APPLIED INTELLIGENCE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE

Admissions Requirements: See institutional policies pertaining to admission. Students who plan to major in Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence should indicate so immediately upon entering the University.

Minimum Total Hours: 124

Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 62

General Education Requirements:
Per General Education list (see General Education Council).

Exceptions:

  • Behavioral science requirement: PSYC 2080
  • History, economics, or social sciences elective requirement: HIST 3000
  • Fine arts requirement (choose one): ARTS 1050 or ARTS 2750
  • Lab science requirement (choose one): BIOL 1030, CHEM 1110 or NSCI 2070
  • Mathematics requirement: MATH 2400

Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.

Application to the Major:
Formal application to the major should be made upon the successful completion of CRJU 1010. The standard Application to the Major form is accepted. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for acceptance to the major.

Major Requirements: 58-62 credit hours.

  • Major core courses: HSAI 1010, HSAI 2000, HSAI 3010, HSAI 4030, HSAI 4100, HSAI 3500, HSAI 4500, HSAI 4980

  • Support core courses: COMM 2206, COMM 2207 or PHIL 2800, CSCI 1010, CSCI 1030, CSCI 1040, CSCI 2640, CRJU 1010, CRJU 2100, CRJU 3020, CRJU 3040, CRJU 3300, CRJU 4010, PSYC 3020, PSYC 3060, PSYC 4020

  • Each student is strongly urged to consider the following recommended electives: SOCS 1020, SOCS 2050, THEO 3050, CSCI 3620, HIST 2220, HIST 2240, HIST 3400, HIST 3100
