2022-23 Undergraduate Academic Catalog | School of Arts and Humanities

Language and Literature

Language & Literature is a community of learners devoted to both language and story. We are also a Christian community seeking answers to some of life’s hardest questions. Among our offerings are courses in Spanish and in American Sign Language, in the 19th-century English novel and in the 20th-century African novel. We teach, we learn, we write poetry, and we pursue and publish scholarship. In addition, we spend time together—for instance, we talk with program alumni to learn what they’ve done with their Language & Literature majors and minors.

Language and Literature offers majors in the following:
A. Adolescence Education English, B.S.
B. English, B.A.

Language and Literature offers minors in the following:

A. English
B. Spanish
C. Gender Studies

Special Notes

  • Childhood Education majors may choose to pursue a 30-hour Spanish concentration.
  • A double major in English and Adolescence Education English is allowed.
