Humbert Farm has been in the family for over a century; Mark Humbert ‘85 (Mathematics) owns the farm and works it with his son Ethan and son-in-law, hoping his grandchildren will run it someday. The 3,400-acre farm produces corn, soybeans, and wheat and is located in Rose, N.Y., in Wayne County.

Humbert Farms is one of three finalists for the New York State Agriculture Environmental Management-Leopold Conservation Award for efforts to manage soil health, water quality, and wildlife habitat. The winner will be named later this summer and will receive $10,000.

“It’s just an honor to even be considered,” said Humbert. "Whether we win or not. Because it’s a recognition from our peers that we’re doing pretty well.” Humbert Farm previously won the award in 2019.
