Danalyn Savage ‘02 (Psychology) is a judge for the Yavapai County Superior Court in Arizona. The governor of Arizona appointed her in December of 2023.

Savage shared, “Since my appointment, I’ve sought to bring humility to the bench and honor the humanity of every person in my courtroom. In my extensive career as a prosecutor, I worked hard to earn a reputation for fairness, firmness, integrity, excellence, and respect among defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges.”

She has spent 17 years as a prosecutor and was recognized as Arizona’s Juvenile Prosecutor of the Year in 2021. Savage has served Maricopa and Yavapai County with extensive experience prosecuting juvenile and domestic violence cases.

Throughout her career, she has learned on the fly and picked up things quickly. She developed exceptional organizational skills and how to prioritize what was most important each day. Those habits, and work ethic, have enabled her to be efficient and effective in every role, including her present role as a judge. She has also learned from the judges she works alongside, whose years of experience have been a great source of wisdom.

When she is not serving the community on the bench, she is supporting her husband, who is a pastor. She has taken to heart something her husband often shares in his sermons, which is, “If serving is below you, then leading is beyond you,” which is one thing that Savage tries to practice every day.

When she is not working, she coaches middle school cross country, is active in her church’s community outreach programs, and is an avid gardener.

She was recently interviewed by CANVASREBEL. Read the story
