For the Karelus family, volleyball isn't just a sport—it's a family tradition. Sisters Jaycee (senior, Nursing) and Camryn (sophomore, Nursing) are carrying on their family volleyball legacy as teammates at Roberts Wesleyan University. The sisters, who previously led Churchville-Chili to their first Section V championship in 2021, are now key players for the Redhawks, standing among the team's leaders in both kills and blocks.

The journey to playing together at Roberts Wesleyan wasn't straightforward. Jaycee initially followed in her mother's footsteps to D'Youville, where she spent two successful seasons. However, the pull of family and the opportunity to play alongside her sister prompted her transfer to Roberts Wesleyan—a decision she describes as unmissable.

Now, the Karelus sisters are making their mark on the court together, helping lead the Redhawks to a promising 10-7 start to the season. Their natural connection as sisters translates into exceptional teamwork, particularly in their side-by-side blocking. As head coach Andy Braun notes, they bring not just athletic skill but also infectious energy and positivity to the team.

This final season together represents more than just volleyball for Jaycee and Camryn. As Camryn puts it, "Everyone in the family – even my brother (Lucas) plays and has played volleyball," making it truly a family affair.

They may wear different numbers on their jerseys, but they soar as one, hopeful to turn sisterhood into victory with every set.
