Redhawks Who Soar - February 2025

We are proud of the nearly 21,000 living alumni working in marketing, healthcare, social work, business, criminal justice, law, ministry, non-profits, the technology industry, and entrepreneurship – to name a few. 

This month, we celebrate accomplishments in our alumni network.

Dr. Lyn Sonnenberg ‘96 (Biology) published the first book in a series entitled, Equity in Action. The book Carefully Chosen Words: Language for Inclusive Care launched on Jan. 31, 2025. As the inaugural book in the Equity in Action: A How-To Series, this practical guide equips healthcare professionals with actionable strategies to build trust, promote equity, and cultivate meaningful relationships through the transformative power of intentional language. Dr. Thomas Blue headshot

 

Dr. Thomas Blue ‘95 (Music Education) retired after teaching choral music for 34 years, however, he continues teaching elementary school music at Oakland Christian School in Michigan.

He was elected the President of ACDA-MI and was recently asked to be a Scholarship Representative for Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where he is the Session 3 SATB/ Chamber Choir Conductor. He was also invited to be the MMEA Region A Elementary Region A Honors Choir Conductor in Marquette, MI.

Yvonne (Carr) Jones ‘00 (Communication) was admitted to practice in the Third Judicial District of New York, effective January 2025.
