Roberts Wesleyan University track and field coach Mark McCown has been named the 2024-25 East Coast Conference Indoor Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year, the ECC announced this morning.
McCown led the Redhawks to the ECC women's indoor team championship this season. The title was the fifth ECC indoor title in program history and the first for Roberts since 2018.
This marks the eighth time that McCown, who started his tenure as head coach in 2019, has been honored by the ECC. He has led the men to three outdoor championships, including the 2023 and '24 titles, and the women to four outdoor conference crowns.
Jenn Suhr Named NCAA D II East Region Assistant Coach of the Year
Jenn Suhr ‘04, Roberts Wesleyan University Pole Vault Coordinator, has been named NCAA Division II East Region Women's Assistant Track Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
In her second season coaching at her alma mater, Suhr led Brynn King to her second consecutive NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Pole Vault Championship. Sophomore Sarah Ferguson earned first-team All-American honors with a sixth-place finish, while freshman Austin Melvin placed 10th for second-team All-American recognition.
The three-time Olympian and 2012 gold medalist has expanded Roberts' pole vault program to 15 athletes from across the country. During her 17-year competitive career, Suhr won 17 national championships, set 12 American records, and still holds the women's indoor world record (5.03m). She is the only vaulter in U.S. history to win three Olympic trials.
Suhr's husband, Rick, is a volunteer assistant coach for the Redhawks.
