Roberts Wesleyan hosted its annual Interprofessional Education (IPE) Simulation Training on April 15, staging a large-scale emergency room setting for immersive student learning and instruction. This interactive training collaborates with Roberts’ nursing, social work, and criminal justice programs. It is designed as a safe space for students pursuing careers in health care to practice skills with the intent to inform their future professional practice.
With the help of volunteer actors and Mercy Flight, the university will run three live simulations consisting of varying medical needs, including severe traumas, critical injuries, and psychological needs, that students will assess and address in real-time with faculty supervision.
Engaging in interprofessional collaboration is a healthcare trend supported by research and evidence that Roberts faculty have found critical in improving student learning and patient outcomes.
