You’re already doing the work of a teacher– now you just need the degree. This unique bachelor’s degree completion program will help you follow your calling to teach without putting the rest of your life on hold.

Build your confidence in teaching. Learn from experienced practitioners modeling best practices. Gain hands-on learning through fieldwork and student teaching.

This program builds off past college experience but does not require a degree to begin. Courses are one night a week, one course at a time. Are you ready to go all in?

Build your confidence in teaching. Gain hands-on learning through fieldwork and student teaching. With the Teacher Immersion Fellowship Program, you may gain valuable paid work experience in schools while you complete your studies.

Admissions Requirements

Requirements:

  • At least 60 hours of college credit with a C or better
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0
  • Fewer than 30 hours of General Ed. and/or Content coursework still to be completed

Not required:

  • Entrance Exam (GRE/GMAT)
  • Bachelor's Degree

Before applying for a teacher’s certificate, you must obtain a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or teaching program. Earning a bachelor’s degree is typically a three-to-four-year program.

Then you will most likely have to complete a student teaching experience followed by taking your state examinations to prove you’re qualified, adding a few more years.

After these steps, you can apply for your teaching certificate, state requirements will vary, but this is the general process.

To become a teacher, you need to prove that you’re qualified by acquiring a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or teaching program and then becoming certified in your state. Qualifications may vary slightly depending on your state.

The Pathway to Teaching program is a unique bachelor’s degree completion program for individuals who want to become certified teachers. It’s designed to let you balance your studies with other commitments by taking classes one night a week.

You can earn a Bachelor of Science in Education with one of the following certifications:

  • Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6)
  • Adolescence Education in a specific content area and Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12)
  • Students with Disabilities Generalist (Grades 7-12)

The program includes coaching through the certification process, review sessions for exams, and interview preparation with local school administrators.

New York State requires teachers to earn a graduate degree for professional certification. Roberts offers graduate programs to help you meet this requirement and further your teaching career.
