I chose Roberts because of the strong sense of community I felt when I visited, as well as its strong roots of faith. In my time at Roberts I’ve found a much greater understanding of who I am as a leader and as a follower of Christ. I’ve had opportunities to connect with others, be challenged as a student and leader, and grow into the person God has called me to be. Pursuing leadership and spiritual growth is a choice I’ve had to consciously make, but Roberts has provided me with the environment to do so in ways that I don’t think I would’ve been able to at most other schools.

What is biochemistry and what will I study with this degree?
Biochemistry is a field of study that applies the learnings of chemistry to better understand the chemical structure and reactions of living organisms.
A biochemistry degree at Roberts includes taking courses like Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Introduction to Research and Scientific Communication. You’ll also complete an internship and a structured study.
What can I do with a biochemistry degree
A biochemistry degree opens doors to a wide variety of careers*, like:

How much does a biochemist make?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for biochemists and biophysicists in 2023 was $107,460.
It’s important to note that biochemists need a Ph.D. to work in independent research and development. You may qualify for some entry-level jobs in the field with a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree.
Naturally, the numbers will differ by area, field of chemistry, company, and position.
Can I meet with a biochemistry professor when I visit Roberts?
Yes! If you come to campus for an individual visit, you can meet individually with a professor to get an overview of the major and your individual questions answered. Our Discovery Day events typically include a Faculty & Services Expo, where you can meet your future professors.
