If you are looking for a challenge and are academically curious, this program is for you. While the classes are not law-specific, they prepare you to succeed with the law school course load while feeding your intellectual curiosity.

Roberts was my immediate choice because its values aligned with my career goals. Most of my professors were heavily involved in my law school application process and continued to support me after law school. My professors took a proprietary interest in my success, like the professor who went to great lengths in helping me submit a strong law school application essay.

Yomaris Sanchez-Orona ‘20 (History - Pre-Law) works as an Associate Attorney at Harter Secrest and Emery, LLP. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University at Buffalo School of Law.

To take the bar exam, you’ll need to obtain a Juris Doctorate Degree from an American law school. However, to get into law school, you’ll have to first get your bachelor’s degree.

Law schools typically don’t care what your bachelor’s degree is in, but look more at your grades in college, references, and how you score on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

To best prepare for the LSAT and law school, you could take a pre-law major or concentration, like the program here at Roberts. As a pre-law student at Roberts, you will take courses in history, criminal justice, political science, economics, and communication to prepare you to apply for Law School. We have a special advising program to help you prepare for the LSAT.

According to the US Bureau of Labor, the median annual wage for lawyers was $127,990 in 2021. It’s important to note that lawyers usually require a law degree and a state license to practice, which typically involves passing a bar examination.

Naturally, the numbers will differ by area, employer, level of education, and position.
