Refunds

Refund Check on Credit Balance

A student with a credit balance on her/his student account may request a refund check by contacting the Office of Student Financial Services. No refund check will be issued until all student aid awards are adjusted and/or until such aid is actually received by the University.

For students in our non-traditional and graduate programs, refund checks on credit balances will be given to the student within 14 days of the first day of class.

Withdrawal from University

A. Approved Withdrawal from University

Approved withdrawal means the student has completed the appropriate forms available in the Office of Student Financial Services. Prorated refunds for tuition, room, and some fees are dependent upon the date of withdrawal (see refund schedule under section D).

No refunds for:

New Student Fee

   TK 20 Fee

Tevera Fee

B. Unapproved Withdrawal

A refund will be awarded based on the best information available to us.  This may be the last date of attendance if known, the midpoint of the semester, or the known date that a student moved out of campus housing.

* Enrolled students are able to make changes to their course schedules through the Registration Office during the drop/add period at the beginning of each semester. These types of changes will incur tuition increases or decreases at a rate of 100%.

D. Tuition and Institutional Financial Aid Refund Policy for Summer Classes

Due to the significantly reduced rate and limited space for summer classes, there will be no refunds for summer classes dropped or withdrawn from fewer than 5 business days prior to the first day of class.

E. Return of Federal (Title IV) Financial Aid

If a student leaves school before the end of the semester, the return of federal financial aid will be based on the guidelines issued by the federal government in the 1998 reauthorization.  Federal financial aid will be prorated on a per diem basis using calendar days, with the exclusion of breaks of over 5 days.  Once the 60% point of the semester is reached, there is no return of federal financial aid.

F. New York State Aid

New York State aid (i.e., TAP) recipients who are withdrawing from college, or who do not complete all of their courses, should be aware that their TAP award amount may be changed for that semester and that they may lose their New York State aid for the next semester. For more details, please refer to the section on Satisfactory Academic Progress.
