International Programs/Short-term Study Abroad

Roberts Wesleyan University offers many semester abroad opportunities through the Rinker Center for Global Learning. In addition to full semester programs, short-term study abroad opportunities through summer programs and On Location Courses are available. These options are for students who might not be able to spend a full semester abroad. Roberts Wesleyan University endorses the following short-term international programs:

Guatemala Summer Program

Roberts Wesleyan University has partnered with La Unión Spanish School in Antigua, Guatemala to offer a four-week language learning experience for students in any major. Highlights include flexible start dates, a homestay with a Guatemalan family, and individual tutoring. No previous Spanish experience necessary. Students will earn 6 credits in Spanish with the option to earn 3 additional credits doing volunteer work in a field of their choice. Summer at SCIO

Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford (SCIO) is an interdisciplinary summer program offered through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. It is designed for students in all fields of study who are seeking academic challenge and intellectual growth. Au Sable Institute for Environmental Studies (Internationally-Based)

The Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies offers environmental science programs that are field-based, university-level courses in environmental studies and environmental science. One international option is available in Costa Rica. Au Sable’s upper-level college courses teach students about the natural world around them, immersing students in the local ecosystems. Participants can take classes, learn hands-on skills and techniques, gain field experience, conduct research, develop tools for environmental stewardship, and experience science education from a Christian perspective. http://ausable.org/

On Location Courses

On Location Courses are led by Roberts Wesleyan University faculty to places around the world. Courses meet several times during the semester in preparation for an on-location experience structured to enrich the classroom learning. The travel portion of these courses ranges from one to four weeks and is billed to students as a course fee.

Past offerings have included courses such as Fine Arts in London, TESOL in Japan, Transcultural Nursing in Costa Rica, Global Honors in Brazil, Faith and Technology in Germany, and Social Work courses in Israel, Estonia, and South Korea. Course offerings change from year to year.
