Transfer Admission
Transfer Admission - An applicant seeking admission to Roberts Wesleyan College who has completed 12 or more credits at another post-secondary institution is considered a transfer. To apply for admission into Roberts, they will be required to submit an application for admission and transcripts of college work completed or in progress. Official transcripts must be sent to the Office of Admissions from all previous post-secondary institutions attended. Students who have only completed college credit while in high school but are planning to enroll at Roberts will be evaluated through the freshman admissions process rather than the transfer admission process. All documents submitted as part of the admissions process will become the property of Roberts Wesleyan College and cannot be returned to the student or forwarded to another institution.
The minimum transfer requirements for regular admission to Roberts are as follows:
- College Transcript: Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher out of 4.0 at the last college attended full-time
- Transfer students seeking admission into Roberts with a stated major of Nursing have an alternative standard as outlined in the following section.
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into Roberts Wesleyan College. An opportunity for additional testing and/or campus interview may be required prior to an admission decision. Any student who has a criminal record will be asked for further information.
Provisional Admission – If it is determined that an incoming student would benefit from academic support and guidance, he or she may be admitted with a provisional status. This would entitle the student to dedicated academic oversight to support their success. In support of the student's academic success, first semester coursework will be limited to a maximum of 14 semester hours (full-time status) and the student will receive direct support from the Learning Center during his or her first semester. At the completion of the first semester, students with provisional status will have their records reviewed to determine if additional academic support would be beneficial for the next semester. This review will be conducted by the Academic Guidance and Support Committee. Included with a student’s letter of acceptance will be an Academic Promise document. The Academic Promise serves to signal the student’s commitment to their own success by utilizing the services listed above. This document must be signed and returned to finalize enrollment and receive financial aid.
Nursing Transfer Admission Requirements - To be accepted into Roberts Wesleyan College as a transfer student with a declared major of Nursing, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in all their science courses, Nursing courses, and in their overall cumulative GPA. In addition, such applicants should not have not been in a Nursing program at another college, nor should they have taken any of the science prerequisites more than twice.
Any transfer student who is accepted under the Nursing admission requirements will also receive direct entry into the Nursing major. During their time at Roberts, the student is expected to achieve and maintain no less than a 2.75 overall cumulative GPA, and a 2.75 GPA in all science and Nursing courses. Admission to the Nursing major as a transfer student is on a space-available basis.
