This program is designed for students who attend Roberts Wesleyan College for two years and then transfer to a professional program in engineering or some other field requiring a solid foundation in mathematics and the physical sciences.
SPECIFICS OF THE PHYSICAL SCIENCE A.S. DEGREE
Minimum Total Hours: 62
Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: Satisfied through general education and major requirements.
General Education Requirements: Students earning an Associate's degree complete a reduced list of General Education requirements. See Core Curriculum Requirements for Associate Degree.
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.
Transfer Requirements: See institutional transfer policies.
Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application should be submitted by the beginning of the sophomore year. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for acceptance to the major.
Major Requirements: 36 hours as follows:
- 8 hours of chemistry with supporting labs: CHEM 1110*, 1120;
- 12 hours mathematics: MATH 2281*, 2282, 2283;
- One computer science course: CSCI 2010 ;
- 12 hours physics: PHYS 2001*, 2002, 2003;
- Recommended courses: CSCI 2280, MATH 3210, PHYS 2120.
Other courses may be recommended by the academic advisor, depending on the transfer program for which the student is preparing. (*Note: some introductory courses may require the passing of a placement exam before course registration).
