Religion and Philosophy Faculty

Position Description/Responsibilities:
The Department of Religion and Philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Professor of Biblical Studies (any rank) beginning July 2019, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate will specialize in the New Testament with competency in the Old Testament and biblical languages.  

Department of Religion and Philosophy: 
Roberts Wesleyan College is a Christian Liberal Arts College in the region of Rochester NY which seeks to hire inspiring professors who will make a lifetime impact on our students.  The Department of Religion and Philosophy teaches courses in biblical studies, theology, ministry and philosophy with introductory courses in the General Education program and more specialized courses for the major. 

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in biblical studies or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered).  In addition, the completion of a M.Div. with some ministry experience is desirable.  Candidates must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and demonstrate a Christian faith commitment consistent with the mission of the institution.  Candidates with teaching experience in the context of a liberal arts college are preferred.  Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.  Roberts Wesleyan College complies with all applicable non-discrimination laws and is committed to the enhancement of human dignity and workplace diversity.

Responsibilities:
Design and teach courses on the New Testament and biblical languages in both the General Education program and the Department of Religion and Philosophy; provide academic advisement; serve on Department and College committees; pursue an active research agenda; engage the broader community.
