Professor Megan Resig '07 (Music Performance - Piano) grew up in rural Pennsylvania and was heavily involved in music from a very young age. When she began looking for college music programs, her audition at Roberts and the interactions with the music faculty here solidified her decision to attend. After graduation, she worked as a studio teacher and accompanist before enrolling in the graduate program for Music Therapy at Nazareth University. Over the past decade, she has worked as a clinician in various settings, including pediatric oncology, adult psychiatric facilities, school districts, and community programs, and her own practice, Spectrum Creative Arts, which she co-owns and manages with two music therapy colleagues.
What do you like about being at Roberts?
There is a deep sense of community here that is really special. It was a defining factor in my experience as a student and continues to be so in my experience as a faculty member.
What are your passions, and what are you currently working on for Music and Performing Arts?
Watching the growth of the new music therapy program has been such a joy! As the program expands, I’m passionate about developing more points of integration with the broader community.
As for the music department, we have a really wonderful season of music and events scheduled for the 2023-2024 academic year. In September, the Roberts Symphony Orchestra performed a concert that featured popular video game music that was quite a hit!
What’s new this academic year?
In November 2023, four area high schools visited campus to compete in the second annual “Invitational Choral Competition.” This event featured two guest adjudicators and a full day of activities hosted by the music department. It was wonderful to meet so many passionate singers!
In December 2023, the Department hosted its annual “Christmas Gala,” which featured a variety of musical styles and performances by our incredible ensembles. Handel’s “Messiah” was featured in the program, which is always a favorite during the holiday season.
I could mention many more events, including “Jazz and Desserts,” our Honors Choir and Honors Band weekends, Concerto/Aria Competitions, and more! There really is never a dull moment in the Music Department!
What piece of advice would you give to current and future students?
Like any other creative endeavor, music is a lifelong learning journey. There is never a point where you stop practicing and growing as an artist. It’s important to find joy in the process instead of what you might achieve.
What is an interesting fact about you?
My daughter and I both love animals, so our house has become a bit of a menagerie! We currently have two dogs, two cats, several fish, and a bearded dragon, and quite a few chickens!

Professor Resig thoroughly mentors and cares for each student, fostering an environment where they can best thrive and fulfill their unique potential. Her management has supported the Music department well through her time at Roberts, and she ensures quality feedback and support for those under her leadership. Professor Resig is intent on making sure student voices and concerns are heard, and she readily initiates change for them. As a result of her intentionality and genuineness, her advisees and students are prepared to enter their field as well-rounded, inclusive, and welcoming individuals.
