Adolescent Education Social Studies

The Adolescence Education Social Studies program prepares students to apply for New York State teaching certification in Social Studies for grades 7-12 (with an extension in Social Studies for grades 5-6). Students in this program also have the option of completing requirements for dual certification in Adolescence Education Social Studies 7-12 and Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalists.

This program prepares students to pursue graduate studies in education, Social Studies, or other related disciplines. All Adolescence Education Social Studies students are assigned an advisor in the Department of History as well as an advocate in the Department of Teacher Education.

Consultation with both advisor and advocate is essential to ensure program requirements and application deadlines are met for both departments.
