The Master of Science in Nursing Education degree program is designed for working RNs who hold a bachelor's degree in nursing and want to be an important part of nursing's future by becoming a nurse educator. The program is based in nursing science with a focus on advancing clinical and evidence-based teaching skills and prepares students to teach in college, university, and clinical settings.  Students develop expertise through a teaching practicum in an area of choice. Students will master the latest technological advances in education. Working RNs can complete this degree in just 18 months. This is an online program with 91 hours of practice experience.

Admissions Criteria:

  • B.S. Degree with a nursing major from an accredited program or the equivalent (or completion of our RN-BS). Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in another discipline may be eligible for the RN to MS program.
  • Licensure as a professional registered nurse within New York State. Other licensure will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • The equivalent of one-year full-time employment as a professional registered nurse and current position in nursing
  • Accumulated grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00
  • Successful completion (B minus or higher) of a course in statistics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written communication

Transfer Credit from accredited nursing graduate programs may be considered.
